About Our Founder
My name is Ivy Richardson (she/her), founder and Executive Director of Red Girl Rising Movement Society. I am Nuxalk and Gusgimukw through my matrilineal line and mixed European through my patrilineal line.
Currently, I reside as a guest on the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation. My work integrates movement as medicine, cultural safety, and relational accountability to create spaces where participants can heal, grow, and thrive. I now also support organizations across BC in designing inclusive sport systems, developing Indigenous coaching capacity, and building community-rooted pathways from participation to leadership.
Ivy’s Recent Accolades
2024/26 NDN Collective Changemaker Fellowship Cohort
The fellowship provides direct support to 21 individual Indigenous Changemakers’ vision, personal and professional development, and leadership. We believe our people have the creativity, innovation, and determination to build healthy, resilient futures; defend our homelands and rights, and develop model regenerative Nations while decolonizing and healing our communities and families.
2025 Indspire Award Recipient – Sports
The Indspire Awards represent the highest honour the Indigenous community bestows upon its own people. For over 30 years, the Indspire Awards have honoured over 400 First Nations, Inuit, and Métis individuals who demonstrate outstanding achievement across Turtle Island and beyond. Their stories are shared in a nationally broadcast celebration that showcases the diversity of Indigenous peoples in Canada.
